Should Canada move navy to Pacific coast?

The Greater Victoria area has a population of more than 344,000, so I doubt that there would be that much difficulty in finding/building homes for an extra few thousand sailors and support personnel....

Rather than expanding Esquimalt perhaps Canada would look into adding a northern port location, or expanding at Nanoose bay?

The Arctic is around the same distance on both coasts, and those distances are normally thought of as trans-oceanic. Western Europe is actually closer to Halifax than the Passage.
